Stalking a snow leopard

S

The snow tracing the wind's vein

swirls beyond confusion.

I hesitate to follow a new route

marked only by urine splashed rocks.

Resin sweats, and trees in the valley

speak of snow boiling into fog.

White hot fire leaps from crown to crown;

whole trees explode;

pine cones burst seed everywhere.

It happens so fast

black stumps smolder branches

into green foliage; expectations turn

in heavy snow: a forest shifts its dreamy weight.

I turn a predatory strength

towards emotional hunger; a volatile touch

into sublime movement; I leap.
